    Partnership

To realize its HIV & AIDS education programme, IBE is collaborating with UNAIDS co-sponsors, several Divisions at UNESCO's Headquarter, UNESCO offices and institutes in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Central and Latin America, as well as with other experts and partners in curriculum development all over the world.

In addition, IBE works closely with Ministries of Education and other partners and stakeholders involved in HIV & AIDS education.

    Examples of partnerships

IBE is participating to the UNAIDS interagency initiative Towards an AIDS-Free Generation/EDUCAIDS. IBE contributes actively to EDUCAIDS, for all aspects linked to the development and implementation of effective HIV & AIDS curriculum. The focus is on the development of practical tools to accelerate HIV & AIDS prevention in the formal education sector, and their concrete application in the field.

The goal of this initiative is to build capacity and scale up responses in prevention education by linking it closely to other already existing initiatives on treatment, food security, orphans and workplace issues, thus creating and strengthening mutual synergies between all HIV & AIDS related programmes in the education sector.

IBE takes part to the UNAIDS Inter Agency Task Team on education (IATT) meetings whenever issues related the curriculum have been addressed, the UNAIDS inter-agency task team on education and HIV & AIDS. The IATT provides the practical framework for the development of coordinated action between UNAIDS co-sponsors and some bilateral and multilateral donors.

IBE is also collaborating in particular in the framework of the another UNAIDS IATT initiativeAccelerating the education sector response to HIV/AIDS in Africa in the context of EFA”, providing technical assistance during the seminars and access to resources for the development of HIV & AIDS curriculum material to the participants.
