Pravah,
a non-profit NGO, was founded by a group of professionals from diverse
backgrounds to extend a healing touch to the fractured society in the
wake of Babri Mosque demolition and the communal frenzy that gripped
the Indian nation. Their goal was to enable young people to acquire
a profound and insightful perspective of problems like violence, through
debates and self-reflection. The Change Makers project aims to
develop innovative training methodologies in the field of citizenship
education, by exposing children to rural life or developing "life
skills" at school.

Pravah
is dedicated to equipping young people with skills for personal growth
and development, to building sensitivity and responsibility towards
the society they live in and developing them into positive "Changemakers
of the future". Pravah works with the college students under the
aegis of a program called SMILE ( Students Mobilization Initiative for
Learning through Exposure). After an orientation, the college students
are taken to various rural centers for exposure. In the schools, a life
skills development program for adolescents, a four-step curriculum,
called "From Me to We", is delivered through a 40-hour program.
A session conducted on one problem, held with students, is designed
for maximum participation and in the belief of the valuable ideology
of experiential learning.

Pravah
through the Change Makers, endeavors to reach out to adolescent
students in schools and enable them to develop their potential and become
socially aware and responsible citizens who can usher in the desirable
changes in society through personal example and leardership qualities.
Its aim is to reach out to youth in schools and colleges and sensitize
them towards their responsibility in society, and make them harbingers
of social change.
