Program of Teaching Human Rights and Languages

Bucarest (Liceul Bilingv GEORGE COSBUC, Colegiul National ELENA CUZA , Grupul Scolar Posta di telecomunicatii)

The program of teaching human rights addresses 16 year-old students in English bilingual classes. Basically, it can be described as a project to learn English, through acquiring values and human rights concepts.

The program is included among the optional subjects of this type of classes. For the moment, a pilot year is taking place and three colleges are testing the project. To support the project, a textbook was written by two Romanian authors and was made available in 1999 by a Romanian publisher.

The project was created to support English-bilingual classes by bringing them truthful material to work with.

Joint project of Ministry of Education Romania and UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
