The Sources
Operation of the World Fund for Nature (WWF-Belgium) is an educational
campaign based on the idea of campaigns/actions which have been set
into place for the first time in 1989 by the Catholic Scout Federation
of Belgium. It aims at several kinds of public, among which are the
students. It also has an applied scientific research dimension.

The Sources
Operation is a series of measuring campaigns of the nitrate content
of the waters of springs and wells. These campaigns, carried out with
the students, support the educational task of the elementary school,
which educates on a rational use of water or on how to fight pollution,
by means of the pedagogical exploitation of subjects related to water
resources. Oriented toward different kinds of public (3rd grade of elementary
and secondary education, wide public and families), the main goal of
this operation is to inform, sensitize the public and make them feel
responsible for its success, by inviting them to engage themselves in
favor of the preservation and/or improvement of the fresh water resources.

 |
|
These
educational campaigns are organized in order to help the population
to develop its participation and responsibility in the management of
water and environmental problems. The population can also learn how
a partnership between many actors can help to enhance projects.
