The Power of Society and Mankind is in Education

Only really well and adequately educated people can face the facts and challenges of a contemporary and modern society. To protect our Planet Earth of further destruction, education has to be our biggest priority, but it must be accessible to everyone, everywhere, world wide. Only with knowledge and experience in a democratic and tolerant atmosphere can we improve our life and environment. Only in such a manner can we leave a message to our generation that we have been thinking responsibly of them. In my opinion that is the unique way to make our generation proud of our creativity and work.

The long and hard road of transition of the Republic of Macedonia has shown that prosperity of the country and its citizens can be assured with an investment in education of the young people. However, an investment in education of the all citizens who will be able to continue their work with short training and courses is also important for their prosperity and that of their country.

In this case, the position of our government by the Ministry of Education and Science is to enable equal education opportunities for all its citizens. Our biggest priorities are the young people who are included in the formal education, but not only in the primary schools. Our strong priorities are the young people included in the secondary and higher education. Here, in high school or specialised training secondary schools, they can develop their intellectual, working and creative abilities. They can also get a good knowledge of democracy and human rights, in the atmosphere of tolerance and respect for their gender, ethnic or any others diversities.

Our priorities are also to build a sound multi-ethnic and multi-cultural community and develop the humanitarian features where people with special needs, disabled or the poor will also feel happy and helpful to themselves, their family and society, because the government helps them and make their life easier.

The Ministry of Education and Science in its “Strategy of Education”, more precisely in the National Programme for Development of Education, emphasized the modernization of education, the adaptation and application of European and world-wide standards of education, especially in the area of intermediate and advanced vocational schools, but also in university-level specialist’s training.

These kinds of skills and mobility will help young people incorporate themselves easier and faster in all areas of the economy of the country or to continue their education in the Republic of Macedonia or abroad.

The accent of our Strategy and Policy is to encourage and to train young people as future successful builders of their own life and that of the country and the World.

The Republic of Macedonia has developed, in co-operation with UNESCO and the Council of Europe, the National Programme of Education for Human Rights and Democratic Citizenship as a clear effort in favour of democratizing an decentralizing education, affirming differences and promoting tolerance, and developing a culture of peace and non-violence for all, especial between young people in the country, in the region and in the World.
