How To Search The Databank

It is possible to search for documents using the following search fields:

Country/ Region
Title
(indexed using individual words)
Area of Good Practice
Education Level (terms taken from IBE thesaurus)
Keywords (terms taken from IBE thesaurus)
Starting Date

To search the databank:

  1. Click on the INDEX of the search field you need
  2. Once you have accessed the Index of the particular field you want, you may browse or search for a particular term with the aid of the alphabetical array or by using the search window.
  3. Select the term(s) you wish, then click on SEARCH to reveal the results of your search.
  4. Clicking on RESET erases your search request

To search using two or more terms from one search field you must select AND or OR.

  • Using AND will narrow your search, reducing the number of records retrieved. For example, a search for rural schools AND citizenship education in Keywords will retrieve records indexed with both of these terms.
  • Using OR will widen your search, increasing the number of records retrieved. For example, a search for rural schools OR citizenship education in Keywords will retrieve records indexed with at least one of these terms.
  • If you search using terms from more than one search field at a time, the terms will automatically be connected by AND. For example, a search for citizenship education in Keywords and 2001 in Date will retrieve projects started in 2001 indexed with the term citizenship education.

It is also possible for you to type free text into the appropriate search screen window, then click on SEARCH, to identify records.
