IBE-UNESCO and Chinese Ministry of Education to hold an Exchange on Curriculum Reform
The China-Europe Exchange on Curriculum Reform, co-organized by IBE and the Chinese Ministry of Education, will be held on May 29 and 30, 2007 at IBE in Geneva. This is a significant event for IBE to promote inter-regional exchange and global conversation on curriculum issues in the framework of the Community of Practice for Curriculum Development. For China, this is the first major international activity after 6 years of extensive curriculum reform started in 2001. |

Inter-training seminar on policy dialogue in education
UNESCO International Bureau of Education, Geneva, 13 to 17 February 2007
A dozen high-level officials of Ministries of Education from Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa (Angola, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Mozambique) are meeting in Geneva. The main themes of this seminar are the construction of a vision on education, policy dialogue in educational change and reforms, the mobilization of stakeholders and partnerships. In cooperation with the European Negotiation Center (Switzerland), two days are being devoted to the acquisition of practical competencies based on the negotiation strategy developed at Harvard University.

“Sub regional seminar for the diagnosis and the elaboration of reference documents for the integration of HIV and AIDS education in the school systems of the CEMAC countries”
Douala, Cameroon 12th to 16th February 2007
This seminar lies within the scope of the sub regional project for the HIV and AIDS education in the Economic and Monetary Community countries of Central Africa. It will bring together experts of UNESCO Yaoundé, UNESCO IBE, and the HIV focal points of the ministries in charge of education, so that they evaluate the policy and pedagogical documents for a harmonized integration of HIV and AIDS education in the school systems of the sub region countries. |

Central American Community of Practice in Curriculum Development
The seminar’s objectives were to work on the evaluation tools by competencies (theoretical and methodological foundations) set up the structure and the basic content of the first module of the curriculum resource pack centered on the analysis of the processes of curriculum change in the Central American countries and produce a series of documents about evaluation situations based on the approach by competencies.
