© Ministry of Education-Guatemala, School Children

This regional seminar is the start-up activity of the Community of Practice in the Central America Region. The seminar’s goal is to share visions, proposals, experiences and practices around the evaluation of competencies, as well as explore the possibility of designing a curriculum resource pack.

The seminar is jointly organized by the Technical Vice-ministry of the Ministry of Education of Guatemala, the Educational and Cultural Council of Central America –CECC- and the UNESCO International Bureau of Education (IBE).

High-level curriculum specialists from 7 countries – Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama. It will be an occasion to further discuss policy options on curriculum developments based on approaches by competencies as an effective way of supporting educational transformations that are currently underway in the region. An expected outcome of the seminar is to establish guidelines to advance the evaluation of competencies. Another outcome is to identify the needs of regional curriculum resources that can support the processes of educational change.
