Latvia Conference on Inclusive Education(Helsinki, Finland, 6-7 March 2008)

Regional conferences are taking place around the world in preparation for the 48th session of the International Conference on Education titled “Inclusive Education: the way of the future” in November 2008

This workshop is entitled "Regional Preparatory Workshop for the 48th session of the International Conference of Education– Nordic Region" It will focus on analyzing the Nordic case, notably lessons learned and current challenges regarding Inclusive Education. Discussion of this topic will help to explain the advances of the Nordic region in carrying out Inclusive Education, and how these advances can be good references for other regions.

Inclusive education is a developmental approach to the learning needs of all children, youth and adults, especially those who are vulnerable to marginalization and exclusion.

The workshop is jointly organized by the Finnish National Board of Education and UNESCO’s International Bureau of Education (IBE).
