    Regional Preparatory Conference: Asia and Pacific Region.

    Preparatory Conference for the 48th session of the International Conference on Education (25-28 November 2008, Geneva)
    (Bali, Indonesia, 29-31 May 2008)

    This Conference will address the topic of “Inclusive Education: Major Policy Issues in the Asia and Pacific Region” and will focus primarily on policy issues related to the following challenges in inclusive education:

    1. Children with disabilities
    2. HIV/AIDS and health
    3. Minorities (ethnic, language, religion)
    4. Migrant children/Refugees
    5. Social exclusion
    6. Gender

    Over three days, the Conference will have 9 plenary sessions and 3 parallel discussions, including keynote speeches, regional and international expert presentations, and debriefing of parallel discussions with representatives from the Ministries of Education of the Asia and Pacific Region on Inclusive Education.

    The conference is jointly organized by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO’s International Bureau of Education (IBE) and the Bangkok Office. It is officially supported by UNESCO Division for the Promotion of Basic Education and UNESCO Jakarta Office.
