Competency-based curriculum design and evaluation

San Jose, Costa Rica - 17 to 19 October 2007
Within the cooperation agreement signed in November 2006 between the Education and Cultural Council of Central America (CECC) and the International Bureau of Education (IBE/UNESCO), and in coordination with UNESCO Offices OREALC, Cluster San Jose and Guatemala, the 5th Meeting of the Central American Community of Practice in Curriculum Development – Regional Workshop entitled “competency-based curriculum design and evaluation” took place in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Its main objective is to contribute to the construction of capacities of educators and curriculum specialists from the Ministries of Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama, as well as from universities and sectors of the civil society, on principles and orientations of curriculum design in Basic and Youth Education as well as competency-based curriculum design and evaluation (pedagogy of integration). The Minister of Education of Costa Rica, Mr. Leonardo Garnier, is expected to inaugurate the event.
