Many activities have been carried out to promote the development of the Community of Practice in the CIS region, notably:

 

  • The expansion and consolidation of the COP through Ministries of Education, regional departments of education, universities, teachers and school administrators’ in-service institutions, NGOs, inter-governmental organisations and other institutions in the CIS region;
  • The creation of a database on scientific and pedagogical issues related to educational standards, syllabus and curriculum issues;
  • The compilation and production of a publication on Diversification of Education (Profile Education) and Competency-based Approaches (in Russian and English) which was sent to the CIS COP members and the CIS Ministries of Education;
  • The translation of the Overview of the IBE Resource Pack for Capacity Building in Curriculum Development into Russian and adapted to fit the regional context;
  • Translation of the COP message into Russian every week; this allows for the expansion of our COP network in this region and more efficient communication;
  • 3 COP workshops (2005, 2006, 2007) gathering the Ministries of Education of the CIS member states, as well as high-level educators and curriculum specialists from the region, have been organised.

 

This Focal Point coordinated the Commonwealth of Independent States Workshop on Inclusive Education, held in Minsk (Belarus) on 29-31 October 2007. He was very involved in regional preparatory activities for the 48th session of the International Conference on Education (ICE 2008, Geneva), and is currently involved in the follow-up of the ICE.

 

The CIS Focal Point closely cooperates with the CIS Council on Co-operation in Education located in Minsk, Belarus.
