Education and Armed Conflict (Prospects #158)

This special issue, guest edited by Dr. Pauline Rose, Senior Policy Analyst on the Education for All (EFA) Global Monitoring Report (GMR), is based on selected background papers, commissioned for the 2011 EFA GMR, “The hidden crisis: Armed conflict and education.”

The articles in this issue represent a varied outlook on the effect that armed conflict has on education and the role that education can also play in conflict. Some draw from experiences from particular country contexts, others from NGOs’ work in the field and different programme experiences. Challenges facing international organisations supporting education in conflict-affected countries are discussed throughout, as well as examples of good practice.

PROSPECTS is UNESCO-IBE's Quarterly Review of Comparative Education.
