This issue follows Prospects #145 “Inclusive Education”, highlighting some of the contributions, discussions and outcomes of the 48th International Conference on Education. It examines some of the debates on inclusive education, including equity and quality as interconnected objectives, the role of government and school autonomy, the pedagogical and strategic importance of teacher training, and the role of community participation in initiatives and policies.
“Inclusive Education: The Way of the Future” was the theme of the last session of the International Conference on Education (ICE) (November 2008) and it has become an important focus of attention over the last two years.
Prospects is UNESCO’s quarterly review of comparative education.
