IBE Diploma in Curriculum Design and Development

diploma-collage-4-3

The main goal of this IBE initiative is to implement innovative, sustainable and accredited capacity development programmes in the field of curriculum. The Diploma courses respond to a real need, identified by IBE and UNESCO Regional Offices, namely to enhance the capacities of Ministry of Education, officials and specialists in curriculum design and development. In the case of the first Diploma course, Ministries of Education and international organizations have covered the costs of the participation of trainees.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Curriculum Design and Development is made possible with the generous support of the UNESCO-Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Prize for Outstanding Practice and Performance in Enhancing the Effectiveness of Teachers, as well as voluntary contributions from Norway and Switzerland.

The Diploma course consists of an intensive face-to-face session followed by 30 weeks of online training. It is based on the IBE’s Training Tools for Curriculum Development: A Resource Pack, as well as 13 thematic modules.

"We used the experience from this training we had and developed a curriculum framework for basic education which is being implemented right now in the Gambia."

Diploma Alumni Network

Launched in 2014, the Diploma Alumni Network is a private community in which all graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma in Curriculum Design and Development continue to build on the experiences and knowledge gained through the training. Here, alumni engage with other alumni and leading practitioners from across the world to discuss the most relevant information on global, regional and local curriculum trends. Members also have the opportunity to access exclusive content and materials developed by the International Bureau of Education (IBE).
