Sudha Vijay joined the IBE at the start of September 2016 and is involved in supporting the Innovation and Leadership in Curriculum and Learning team. Her work mainly consists of supporting the “Reading project” which focuses on improving early reading outcomes in three countries in West Africa (Burkina Faso, Niger and Senegal).
Prior to joining the IBE, she worked at the UCL Institute of Education as a research assistant for the Department of Psychology and Human Development. She supported research projects looking at “Widening participation issues in social research” and “Pearson’s whole school reading programme, Bug club”. She previously worked as a special education teacher, helping children with learning difficulties (e.g. autism, ADHD).
Ms Vijay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Certificate in Counselling and a Master’s degree in Developmental and Educational Psychology from the UCL Institute of Education. Her Master’s thesis looked at discrepancies between the private and state schooling system in Dehradun (India) and was one of the few dissertation projects chosen to be placed in the university library.
