Do Son, Viet Nam, 2-5 November 2010 Given the crucial importance of teachers, as duty bearers, in implementing the recently-adopted laws on Gender Equality (GE) in Viet Nam, UNESCO IBE conducted a three-day pilot testing workshop of the draft Teacher Training Modules (TTM) that were developed in the context of the Programme on “National Textbook review and analysis from a gender perspective, including piloting teacher-training programmes to incorporate Gender Equality issues in line with the Law on Gender Equality and the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control (United Nations Joint Programme activity 1.3.15). In the context of the Programme, UNESCO Hanoi Office with the technical assistance of UNESCO IBE, and the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) work cooperatively towards incorporating gender issues and promoting GE in and through teacher training courses at primary and secondary levels. The TTM are conceived as a comprehensive, generic resource package which teacher training institutions may customize for specific pre-and in-service trainees, local contexts and needs.
