Asian regional workshop addressing inclusive education

 Phnom Penh, Cambodia - 16 to 18 January 2008
"Towards Inclusion: Implementing Inclusive Policies for Assessing Achievements towards EFA" is the title of an Asian regional workshop taking place from 16 to 18 Jan in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Some 75 participants from 16 countries are expected, along with policymakers and international agencies.  The Workshop aims to raise awareness on the right to education for persons with disabilities, to share both challenges and successful experiences concerning inclusive education in the Asian region and develop recommendations for effective practices of inclusive education. Within the framework of the EFA Flagship Project on the Right to Education for Persons with Disabilities, the meeting is co-organized by UNESCO and the Cambodian National Commission for UNESCO. It is also supported by the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Cambodia as well as China’s Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe, named UNESCO Artist for Peace who will peform at the opening of the meeting.
