Panama City, Panama, 18-20 November 2010 This workshop aims to strengthen capacity building on the theory and practice of inclusive education and addresses issues related to the conceptualization of inclusive education and the design and development of policies, as well as the education systems, curricula and inclusive practices. The opening ceremony will be preceded by the Vice Minister of Education, Her Excellency Mirna Vallejos de Crespo. The 70 participants include Reymundo Hurtado, General Director of Education, Prof. Ariadna de Petterson, National Director of Special Education, and Melissa Wong S., director of OEI Panama. Other participants include experts from national ministry teams, professors, teachers, educators, researchers, and staff from the "Universidad Especializada de las Américas", a former governmental entity for people with special needs education, and staff from the National Secretary for Special Needs (SENADIS). The workshop will be held at the "Universidad Latina" and is organized by the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), the Institute of Development and Educational Innovation (IDIE), the Ministry of Education of Panama and UNESCO-IBE.
