Piriápolis, Uruguay, 4-5 October 2012: Following the first meeting within a long-term project in Uruguay, IBE continues to assist the government on education policies, curriculum, and programme implementation. In particular, IBE will support the identification of key trends, themes, and ways to address crosscutting learning axes and curriculum frameworks.
Support will be provided at the workshop "Dialogue within the educational agenda towards 2030" to take place 4-5 October 2012 in Piriápolis, Uruguay. Participants will cover the five thematic axes of the country programme: (1) crosscutting learning axes and curriculum frameworks; (2) school models; (3) education and work; (4) technology and innovation in education; and (5) role, education and professional development of teachers. The workshop outcomes will be used to elaborate the programme action plan 2013-14.
The workshop is co-organized by United Nations “Delivering as One” and the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) of Uruguay. It is the start-up activity of the “Country Programme 2012-2014” engaging key stakeholders across different levels of the education system as well as scholars and researchers. The workshop will be opened by the Minister of Education and Culture (MEC), Mr. Ricardo Ehrlich and the UN Resident Coordinator in Uruguay.
The workshop takes place after the visit of the Director General of UNESCO, Ms. Irina Bokova, to Uruguay last September (14-16). During a meeting with Mr. José Mújica, President of Uruguay, and Mr. Ricardo Ehrlich, Minister of Education and Culture, Ms. Bokova highlighted UNESCO’s successful and sustainable collaboration with the government and other UN agencies in the elaboration of a 20 year national plan for education.
