GigaPan Project Expands to Indonesia

19.06.2009

Details

The GigaPan Project was introduced to three schools in Jakarta, Indonesia from May 19th-28th.  Introducing the project to schools Indonesia was important as these schools are the first in Asia to begin participating in the GigaPan School Dialogues Project.

The three schools are engaged in the project at different levels. For example the SMA Labschool Jakarta was trained to become a focal point for the project in Indonesia. The other two schools in Jakarta: Diponegoro High School and Al Izhar High School were assessed as ready to join the project immediately and provided the necessary training and equipment to start work on the project.

The Indonesian Executive Chairman for the National Commission for UNESCO Dr. Arief Rachmann welcomed the project to Indonesia and highlighted its connections to the objectives of inclusive education as expressed in the final Conclusions and Recommendations of the International Conference on Education, 2008.  He noted that he is supportive of any international exchange/communication among youth from different countries.

Objectives:

  • Assessment of schools curricular and institutional contexts,
  • Teacher and student training in SMA Labschool,
  • Establish steps for project implementation
