IBE Geneva, Switzerland - 29 and 30 May 2007: The China-Europe Exchange on Curriculum Reform, co-organized by IBE and the Chinese Ministry of Education, will be held on May 29 and 30, 2007 at the IBE in Geneva. This is a significant event for IBE to promote inter-regional exchange and global conversation on curriculum issues in the framework of the Community of Practice for Curriculum Development. For China, this is the first major international activity after 6 years of extensive curriculum reform started in 2001.
Eight national high-level curriculum officials and experts headed by the reform architect Madame ZHU Muju (Deputy Director-General for Basic Education in the Ministry of Education) will focus their discussions on curriculum reform implementation, textbook policies and management, teacher professional development. Their objectives are to present their experience and get feedback from renowned European counterparts. For this purpose, IBE has invited key curriculum officials and experts from Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and Switzerland. These resource persons, together with IBE specialists, will discuss with their Chinese counterpart in the two-day Exchange, providing feedback and suggestions from a European perspective.
The Exchange will be conducted in Chinese and English with simultaneous interpretation.
