Details

Halong Bay, Viet Nam, 13-16 June 2011 Environmental protection, climate change, gender issues, multilingual and inclusive education are themes that contribute to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Education for All (EFA). Incorporating these themes into curriculum and teacher training is a main priority for governments in the Asia-Pacific region. In this context, UNESCO-IBE, UNESCO Bangkok, the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, and the Center for Research & Promotion of Education for Sustainable Development are organizing a national workshop to enhance the capacity of teacher educators and teachers to incorporate ESD and EFA-related themes into teacher education and school curricula in Viet Nam. In this context, UNESCO-IBE, UNESCO Bangkok, the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, the Center for Research & Promotion of Education for Sustainable Development and the Japanese Funds-in-Trust are organizing a national workshop to enhance the capacity of teacher educators and teachers to incorporate ESD and EFA-related themes into teacher education and school curricula in Viet Nam. Participants will take part in training exercises in order to learn about ESD and EFA principles, develop resource materials, and share good practices. The workshop will also contribute to the increase of professional networking for the promotion of ESD and EFA in Viet Nam. This workshop is organized within a project called “Reorienting Quality Teacher Education towards Education for All (EFA) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)”. This project is funded by the Japanese Funds-in-Trust and coordinated by UNESCO Bangkok. To support this, the IBE and UNESCO Bangkok have co-produced four training modules on environmental education, natural disaster reduction, climate change, and gender sensitization. Background Paper:
