Shaping the Post-2015 Education Agenda in Uruguay

Promoting collaboration between private enterprise, the government and public organizations is critical in determining education’s role in a nation’s future and outlining an agenda that supports change across various levels of the education system.

IBE Programme Specialist Renato Opertti will join leading trade associations in Uruguay to present on curriculum and the manner in which it can serve as a policy agreement between various stakeholders. His remarks will also highlight the importance of a global-local approach to educational development, the potential of teachers, students and ICT in personalized learning, and the utility of transversal subjects such as citizenship education, life skills and technological training in the coming years.

The policy dialogue meeting Forjando el Porvenir: La Agenda Educativa 2015 en adelante (Shaping the Future: The Education Agenda Post-2015) will take place on May 20, 2014 in Montevideo, Uruguay. The event is organized by the Asociación Rural del Uruguay (Rural Association), Cámara de Industrias del Uruguay (Uruguay Chamber of Industries), Cámara Mercantil de Productos del País (Mercantile Chamber of National Products), Cámara Nacional de Comercio y Servicios (Uruguay National Chamber of Commerce and Services) and the Federación Rural (Rural Federation), and is sponsored by the UNESCO Office in Montevideo and the UNICEF Office in Uruguay.
