Start-up seminar of the Community of Practice for the Gulf Arab Region

Kuwait - 27 to 28 May 2006 The Community of Practice (COP) in Curriculum Development for the Gulf Arab region has been set up. It is located in the Gulf Arab States Educational Research Centre (GASERC, Bahrain). Its main activities are focused on disseminating the ideas of the community throughout the region, as well as to establish an agenda of curriculum issues to be developed. Within this framework, a start-up seminar of the COP was held in Kuwait (27-28 May 2006). Its objectives were:

• The set up of the COP in the region, including the institutional framework and the role of the Focal Point, mainly related to its duties, activities and relationships with international, regional and local networks.
• The identification of Capacity Building activities that can be regionally carried out for years 2006 and 2007 and 
• The creation of a data base on curriculum innovations.

High-level educators and curriculum specialists from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates as well as from GASERC attended the seminar.
