Sudan: Meeting with the Director General of the National Centre for Curriculum and Educational Research to discuss Sudan’s Curriculum Reform Initiative

With the support of the UNESCO Office Khartoum, Prof. Abdulrahim Ahmed Salem Mogazi, Director General of the National Centre for Curriculum and Educational Research in Sudan (NCCER) carried out a three-day visit to the IBE with a view to discuss on IBE’s possible assistance to Sudan’s Curriculum Reform Initiative. Based on exchanges with IBE staff, inputs were provided for the review of the project “Capacity Building for Curriculum Development and Support for Quality Education in Sudan” jointly developed by the Sudanese Ministry of Education and UNESCO Khartoum Office that ought to be submitted for funding in the near future. The IBE and the Director General of NCCER also discussed the concept of an upcoming National Curriculum Workshop in Sudan (tentatively October or November 2010), as well as IBE’s technical assistance to preparing and delivering the workshop to be attended by education partners and donors. The workshop is eyed as an important step in preparing the Sudanese 3rd National Education Conference, as well as in setting the grounds for a comprehensive curriculum reform process in Sudan with the support of the Sudanese Government and the international community.
