Instructional Time
Since 1997, the IBE has been collecting and systematizing information on teaching subjects and instructional time worldwide, concentrating on the first nine years of schooling. Selected information on official curricular timetables is progressively made available through the Country Dossiers database under “Curricular resources”.
Data are also being exploited for a variety of purposes, including:
- Supporting IBE activities in the field, as in the case of the project focusing on time allocation in the Gulf countries;
- Preparing thematic studies, working papers and contributions to reports focusing on EFA as well as other reports, as in the case of the 2005 World Bank Report A New Agenda for Secondary Education. (Consult the World Bank Report online).
