On Tuesday 24 June the IBE hosted a farewell to honour its outgoing Director, Ms Clementina Acedo, attended by current and former IBE staff, supporters and partners of the IBE, and friends. During her seven years as Director of the IBE, Ms Acedo has led the Institute’s development on its path to becoming a Centre of Excellence that is able to respond effectively to the post-2015 education and development agenda.
A warm tribute was paid to Ms Acedo by Mr Joseph Ngu, Deputy Director of the IBE, thanking her for making the Institute still more responsive to the needs of Member States: “On behalf of your IBE colleagues and the IBE’s partners, for all you have done in leading the Institute for the past seven years, particularly on its path to becoming a Centre of Excellence in curriculum development globally, I would like to wish you well in your new challenge.”
Ms Acedo has announced her decision to accept a new role as Director of Webster University Geneva. She will remain as interim Director until mid-July, when a new Director is expected to be appointed.
The IBE would like to echo Mr Ngu’s comments in thanking Ms Acedo for her leadership, particularly of the Centre of Excellence strategy, and in wishing her well in her new position.
