Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Malaysia to visit IBE on 15 April 2015

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Hj. Mohd Yassin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Malaysia, will visit IBE on 15 April 2015 to mark the launching of the joint project. Malaysia and UNESCO-IBE will launch a new project to share Malaysia’s experience and provide gender-responsive STEM curricula and teacher education through formal and non-formal settings and provisions to the beneficiary countries: Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

Acquiring knowledge about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is not only a basic human right, but also a critical aspect of sustainable and inclusive development and participatory citizenship. These areas require urgent attention if curricula and learning in many developing countries are to sufficiently support national development agendas.

Media interested in attending the event should contact Hanspeter Geisseler h.geisseler@unesco.org and/or +41 22 917 78 31.
