Countering intolerance and discrimination through education: Challenges and prospects

UNESCO-IBE organized a roundtable on Countering intolerance and discrimination through education: Challenges and prospects, and book launch of As the Witnesses Fall Silent: 21st Century Holocaust Education in Curriculum, Policy and Practice.  The event took place on Monday 15 June 2015, at UNESCO-IBE.

If we can play sports with people with disabilities, why can’t we learn altogether?

Our commitment to education is aligned with our belief that sport is a way to create a safe space where fundamental values and learning can take place. During a visit from the Special Olympics, a joint project was discussed on inclusive, quality education for the most marginalised – individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Repositioning Curriculum in Education Quality & Development-Relevance

A transformative vision for education over the next 15 years has been adopted at the World Education Forum, which concluded on 21 May 2015 in Incheon, Republic of Korea.


The IBE, as a contribution to UNESCO's lead, organized a side event on "Repositioning Curriculum in Education Quality & Development-Relevance". Participants emphasized, among other interesting aspects, the central role of the curriculum in forging a systemic vision of quality education and of the education system.
