Leading the global dialogue on curriculum for lasting peace

Curriculum plays an essential role in transforming education so societies can change and grow peacefully, equipped with the skills and competencies for the 21st century.
Curriculum dialogue

As the world evolves to face modern opportunities and challenges, education approaches must adapt. Curriculum plays an essential role in transforming education systems for societies to change and grow peacefully, equipped with the necessary skills and competences for the 21st century.

Founded in 1925, UNESCO-IBE has been a platform for regional and international cooperation on education for almost 100 years.  UNESCO-IBE’s vision of a holistic, inclusive and systemic vision of curriculum embraces diversity and tolerance, recognizing curriculum as a driver of quality education, sustaining the design and development of educational policies within a long-term vision and engaging key stakeholders.

A leading UNESCO Institute and a global center of excellence in curriculum and related matters, IBE strengthens the global knowledge base by hosting dialogues, initiating research and publishing books, think pieces, and discussion papers. IBE’s documentation centre preserves fascinating and valuable historical texts and dossiers, and fellowships are available for research into IBE’s historical collections.

Almost 100 years later, UNESCO-IBE continues to lead the global dialogue on curriculum and related education matters. One of IBE’s regular publications is the highly acclaimed Prospects journal, which offers perspectives on curriculum, learning, and assessment. It provides innovative insights into equitable and quality education for all, engaging cross-disciplinary perspectives on culture, economics, and gender. It emphasizes policy implementation and aims to bridge the gap between theorists, researchers, and practitioners.
